Andrew P. Schmidt 

Andrew has experience in a wide range of technical areas including medical devices, manufacturing processes, accessories for personal electronics, and other mechanical and electromechanical arts. Prior to joining Pauly, DeVries Smith and Deffner, LLC, Andrew clerked at Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner PA, where he drafted patent applications, conducted freedom to operate analysis, and provided litigation support. 

Andrew is a graduate from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He was a recipient of the University of St. Thomas President’s Scholarship.  He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of St. Thomas.  After completing his bachelor’s degree, Andrew worked as a design engineer in Minneapolis for a manufacturer of commercial/industrial energy recovery equipment.  He designed custom air handling units for numerous applications such as schools, casinos, hospitals, and health clubs.  

Additionally, Andrew has experience working for a start-up company conducting research on the process of producing ethanol, as well as working for a company specializing in in vitro diagnostics.  Andrew also volunteers on the National Ski Patrol.
