Rakhi D. Nikhanj
Rakhi has a wide variety of experiences writing and prosecuting patents in technical areas including medical devices, software, and business methods. Prior to joining Pauly, DeVries Smith & Deffner, LLC, Rakhi externed at Schwegman, Lundberg, Woessner & Kluth, PA where she gained experience drafting patent applications, preparing defensive publications, providing litigation support, and assisting with portfolio management. She was also a summer clerk for the Patents and Licensing Division of the University of South Florida - Tampa, where she focused on patent licensing and intellectual property valuation, in addition to preparing and prosecuting patents.
In her undergraduate studies, Rakhi was exposed to many different areas of technology that gave her an appreciation for client innovation including designing and developing a thermo-electric consumer product for a small business, helping Habitat for Humanity develop sustainable construction techniques, and designing and building personalized rehabilitation devices for the The State of Wisconsin. These experiences have helped Rakhi to understand the design process, which helps her understand and meet the needs of her clients.
